Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

About Me

I began training as a counsellor over 16 years ago, after navigating a difficult period in my own life. At the time, finding support that felt understanding and attuned was incredibly hard. That experience shaped my commitment to becoming the kind of counsellor I had needed, someone who listens with depth, compassion, and genuine curiosity.

Since then, I’ve trained and worked extensively in the areas of substance misuse, domestic abuse, trauma, and mental health, supporting people through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

My intention is to offer a space where you feel safe, understood, and able to breathe. A space where you can explore what has happened to you, make sense of your experiences, and begin to find steadier, kinder ways of coping and moving forward.

Who I Work With

I offer counselling for individuals aged 18+ and for couples, shaping each session around your unique needs, preferences, and ways of processing. Therapy can be short‑term or long‑term, depending on what feels right for you, and I also accept EAP referrals.

Counselling can support you to:

  • build confidence and self‑trust
  • understand yourself more deeply
  • make choices that align with who you are
  • gently shift patterns that no longer serve you

Sessions last one hour and take place on the same day and time each week, offering consistency and a sense of grounding.

A Neurodiversity‑Affirming Approach

Many people I work with are neurodivergent, or simply feel more at ease with clarity, predictability, and sensory awareness. You are welcome to show up exactly as you are.

Together, we can shape sessions in ways that support your comfort and wellbeing. This might include:

  • clear structure or visual outlines
  • time to pause and process
  • communication that matches your preferred style
  • creative, written, or non‑verbal ways of expressing yourself
  • permission to stim, move, or take sensory breaks

There is no expectation to mask or fit a certain way of being. Your way of experiencing the world is valid, and it matters.

Initial Consultation

If you’d like to explore whether counselling feels right for you, I offer an optional free 20‑minute consultation. It’s a gentle space to talk about what you’re looking for and ask any questions you may have.

Supervision

I also offer supervision to counsellors. My approach is relational, facilitative, explorative, and appropriately challenging, with space for reflection, curiosity, and professional growth. I integrate the Seven‑Eyed Model (Hawkins & Shohet) to support your clinical work, your wellbeing, and your development as a practitioner.

Confidentiality

I work in accordance with UKCP ethical guidelines, which include a strong commitment to confidentiality. If any concerns arise that may require us to discuss limits to confidentiality, I will always talk this through with you openly and sensitively.
