6 More Books to Help You on Your Healing Journey

As we kick off a brand new year, I want to share 6 more books to help you on your healing journey. Books that offer insight into our struggles and timeless wisdom to help us help ourselves, overcome challenges and live the life we want to.

Healing is often a long process, with a combination of therapy, self-care, journaling, reading, and doing the work required to process the past and dive into the future with a better understanding of yourself.

Why not see if the library has any of these titles available, or if you’re not keen on reading books, Audible is a great way to listen to books on the go.

How to Do the Work – Dr Nicole LePera

Known as ‘The Holistic Psychologist’ online, clinical psychologist Dr LePera has written her book as a self-help book that provides a holistic approach for personal growth and wellbeing which explores the connection between mind and body.

The book delves into the significance of addressing past traumas and experiences that may impact present thoughts and behaviours and empowers readers to take an active role in their own healing, providing tools for creating positive changes and sharing real-life examples.

Dr LePera’s book offers both a manifesto for self-healing and an essential guide to creating a more vibrant, authentic and joyful existence.

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself – Dr Joe Dispenza

You are not doomed by your genes and hardwired to be a certain way for the rest of your life. Leading author, speaker, researcher, and chiropractor Dr Joe Dispenza combines the fields of quantum physics, neuroscience, brain chemistry, biology, and genetics to show you what is truly possible.

Dr Dispenza demystifies ancient understandings and bridges the gap between science and spirituality. Not only will you be given the necessary knowledge to change any aspect of yourself, you will also be taught the step-by-step tools to apply what you learn to make measurable changes in any area of your life.

The Myth of Normal – Dr Gabor Maté

Renowned medical doctor, addiction expert and author Gabor Maté dissects the underlying causes of the rise in physical and emotional problems across the Western world and connects the dots between our personal suffering and the pressures of modern-day living.

Over four decades of clinical experience, Dr Maté has found that the common definition of ‘normal’ is false: virtually all disease is actually a natural reflection of life in an abnormal culture, as we grow further and further apart from our true selves. But he also shows us the pathway to reconnection and healing.

Filled with stories of people in the grip of illness or in the triumphant wake of recovery, this life-affirming book shows how true health is possible, if we are willing to embrace authenticity above social expectations.

The Universe Has Your Back – Gabrielle Bernstein

In this motivational book, New York Times best-selling author Gabby Bernstein teaches you how to transform your fear into faith in order to live a divinely guided life with confidence

When the tragedies of the world seem overwhelming, this book will help guide you back to your true power and peace.

Each story and spiritual lesson in the book guides you to address the blocks holding you back so you can release anxiety and relax into a sense of certainty and freedom.

You Can Heal Your Life – Louise Hay

Written 40 years ago, this book has sold millions of copies and is claimed to be the definitive guide on self-healing, affirmations, and the power of the mind to heal the body.

Louise Hay’s work is based on the idea that our thoughts and beliefs have a profound impact on our physical and emotional wellbeing, and she offers guidance on how to transform your life through positive thinking and self-love.

While her approach may not be a replacement for medical treatment, the book has been valuable to many readers as a source of inspiration and motivation to take charge of their emotional and physical health.

The Stress Solution – Dr Rangan Chatterjee

This book is designed to empower readers with practical tools to combat the effects of stress in their lives. Dr Chatterjee draws on his medical expertise as a GP to present a well-rounded and holistic approach to wellbeing that goes beyond quick fixes and addresses the root causes of stress.

Dr Chatterjee shows how a small change in the way you approach your body, mind, relationships, and purpose can lead to a calmer, happier, and healthier life.
